CJC-1295 (no DAC)
CJC-1295 without DAC, also sold as Mod GRF 1-29, is a lab-made copy of the first 29 amino acids of growth hormone–releasing hormone (GHRH), with four amino acids swapped. GHRH is the brain hormone that tells the pituitary to release growth hormone. It is a different molecule from CJC-1295 with DAC: it lacks the chemical add-on that binds that version to albumin in the blood and makes it last for days.
Approval status
Not approved as a medicine by FDA, EMA or other major regulators, and FDA found no human or animal studies of this exact molecule. Its compounding nominations were withdrawn, but FDA reviewed it anyway, and in December 2024 FDA's advisers voted against letting pharmacies compound it (13–0, and 12–1 for its acetate salt).82567
What it’s used or studied for
- Animal & lab only
In rat pituitary cells and pigs, closely related GHRH analogues with changes at the same positions (8, 15 and 27) were more stable and potent than natural GHRH.4
- No studies
Promoted online to raise growth hormone in short pulses, for muscle gain, fat loss, sleep and recovery. No published human studies have tested it.82
Each label shows how strong the evidence is: an approved use, human studies, animal or lab studies only, or a popular claim with no published studies. Being studied is not the same as being proven safe or effective.
Side effects
There are no published human safety data for this molecule. When FDA reviewed it in 2024, it found no clinical safety information on it.28
Cautions
- Often confused with CJC-1295 with DAC, a longer-acting molecule. FDA found the names used on products and in databases inconsistent.2
- FDA says pituitary overgrowth or tumors from long-term use cannot be ruled out, because the needed long-term animal studies have not been done.2
- FDA says compounded CJC-1295 may provoke immune reactions and is hard to characterize and keep free of impurities.6
- A forensic lab found seized doping products that held an altered version of modified GRF 1-29 with an extra amino acid (glycine).9
